Inspired by a bees’ nest found in the maker’s garden, hand-cut veneer hexagons in contrasting timbers and grains were laid out while referring to the actual honeycomb. The door edges were designed to meet the interlinking hexagons; inset brass levers mesh seamlessly with the overall design. English bog oak, dating from 3,300BC, sets off the cabinet without interference.
